My Dream Writing Spot

One of my favorite places on the planet is the lighthouse at Point Reyes, California. Up above San Francisco, the point is home to the Point Reyes National Seashore, a part of the National Park Service.

It’s not so much the lighthouse itself (although that is very cool), as the old lighthouse keeper’s house.

At the bottom of the 300 some-odd concrete steps, just before the short walk to the actual lighthouse, is the keeper’s house. It’s closed to the public, except for the office where the keeper kept his log. There’s a sample of the old log on the desk, which overlooks the cliffs and then the ocean beyong.

When I settle down to write, I imagine myself writing from here.
